James Owens is an American artist and filmmaker, living in Columbia, South Carolina.
His work, spanning from drawing and painting to 16mm film and interactive fiction, considers questions of structure and identity, the performance of self and autobiography, and life in the rural South. In 2015, he completed The Movie About my Father, a personal documentary working through ideas of origin and family history.
He holds an M.A. in Media Arts from the University of South Carolina's School of Visual Art and Design.
